mini satchel #2

Salvaged leather from two purses to make a second mini satchel for my not-so-younger sis. She wanted hers bigger than the last one to accommodate more personal effects. Tried a new deer embroidery. Turned out pretty well for free-handing it.

mini satchel

Made a mini satchel for younger sis to carry her essentials around. She liked a similar one I designed. The peacock feather sinew embroidery was her idea though. A magnet holds the flap closed.

recent werkz

Here's some projects friendz and fam have commissioned me to make recently...

front credit card pockets // belt sewn on back

mini satchel from grandpa's old leather coat

knick-knack and art supply holder for little sis

dk. brown 50-pg notebook

reclaimed oak bench swing

The swing's top crosspieces are reclaimed hardwood oak floor laths. The laths were harvested from circa 1920 houses here in Winterset. Chose not to refinish thoak laths in order to preserve the decades-old wear patterns. The swing's skeleton is a conglomeration of rustic wood. A few bolts and some chain hold the swing securely to the pine tree.

Dreamed up the bench swing as an accessory to the rope swings Vanya and I made at JBU..

bordeaux wallet

Here's a wallet I crafted for Emily Pearce last week. I've never done a wallet before, so this was a fun new adventure. Grateful Emily gave me explicit specs. Used a nice Bordeaux/Ox Blood stain, and found an old rustic buckle to use for the strap.

leather coat satchel

This was a really fun project. I made this for a neighbor out of his late grandpa's old leather coat. Repurposed as many of the coat parts as possible. Used the belt for the shoulder strap. A belt tip for the front flap clasp. And sewed one of the hand pockets onto the front. I even used a sleeve cuff to hold the excess shoulder strap below the buckle.

turquoise satchel

Mailed this bag out to Portland, OR for Aunt G last week. She picked dimensions and color. I constructed. Quite a fun bag to make. Courtney did a little modeling for me before I mailed it...
