another reclaimed satchel

Crafted this lil' satchel for a good friend of mine. Used his old black leather coat. The leather was quite thin, but he assures me it is still holding up well! I doubled up the leather on the sides for better support.

vertical satchel

This is one of the favorite satchels that I've made so far. I designed a vertical satchel to fit a 13-inch MacBook Pro out of another reclaimed leather coat. I was able to incorporate much of the coat's character into the satchel design. Initially, I was not too thrilled about this project when my youth pastor commissioned me to make it for him. But as I built it, I became more and more pleased with the result.

mini satchel #2

Salvaged leather from two purses to make a second mini satchel for my not-so-younger sis. She wanted hers bigger than the last one to accommodate more personal effects. Tried a new deer embroidery. Turned out pretty well for free-handing it.

mini satchel

Made a mini satchel for younger sis to carry her essentials around. She liked a similar one I designed. The peacock feather sinew embroidery was her idea though. A magnet holds the flap closed.

recent werkz

Here's some projects friendz and fam have commissioned me to make recently...

lt. brown wallet

front credit card pockets // belt sewn on back

mini satchel from grandpa's old leather coat

knick-knack and art supply holder for little sis

dk. brown 50-pg notebook

reclaimed oak bench swing

The swing's top crosspieces are reclaimed hardwood oak floor laths. The laths were harvested from circa 1920 houses here in Winterset. Chose not to refinish thoak laths in order to preserve the decades-old wear patterns. The swing's skeleton is a conglomeration of rustic wood. A few bolts and some chain hold the swing securely to the pine tree.
